Role of soil in water and nutrient retention

Image

In the face of climate change, deteriorating water quality, and loss of biodiversity, we look at soil as a living organism with multiple functions. In addition to its productive function, which is closely related to agriculture, soil among other things, it participates in flood and drought prevention by retaining water in the soil, is involved in nutrient cycling, CO2 sequestration, water purification by reducing pollution, and provides habitats for organisms.

In this presentation we focus on the role of soil in water retention and thus in preventing nutrient losses. We show which good agricultural practices contribute to taking care of the soil structure, increasing the organic matter in soil and limiting soil erosion
