Agri-environmental measures to protect waters from pollution of agricultural origin include good practices in soil use and fertilizer application within arable land.
In the Waterdrive Catalogue of Measures (https://www.slu.se/waterdrive), two measures were selected for improving soil structure: structural liming and gypsum application, which reduce soil erosion. The next two measures presented, subsurface application of manure and monitoring of manure application at the catchment scale, indicate the potential for sustainable manure application to help reduce water pollution.
