Kutno County: WATERDRIVE Case Area in Poland

Image

The area of Kutno County is an important agricultural production area in Lodz Province (Poland), which was severely affected by drought in 2018 and 2019. Renovation of the drainage system and transition to a controlled/dual-function drainage system is an essential measure in the fight against drought.

We present the progress of local multi-stakeholder cooperation to increase water retention, in which the main actors are the water companies (voluntary association of farmers) and the National Water Holding Wody Polskie. Regional and national initiatives have strongly stimulated local actions.
