Odense Fjord: WATERDRIVE Case Area in Denmark

Image

Nutrient runoff has not decreased significantly over the last 10 years in Denmark, so investments in artificial wetland construction have been prioritized as a mitigation measure. For this purpose, catchment officers have been established - derived from agricultural advisors trusted by farmers and equipped with data and tools to plan constructed wetlands in an optimal location in the catchment.

We present experiences from the cooperation of catchment officers with farmers, landowners and municipalities in Odense Fjord catchment, which have been an inspiration for other Waterdrive case areas.
